About

The 109th Engineer Battalion 10.9 Miler is a community event hosted by the 109th Engineer Battalion South Dakota Army National Guard. The purpose of this event is community involvement and to showcase the 109th EN BN’s equipment to the public.
The event is open to all members of the community. We expect approximately 40-50 runners/walkers to participate. A family-friendly 1.09-mile course also shares the course with the 10.9-mile. This “fun run” event will not utilize timing chips.
The 10.9-miler will start and end at 3740 Range Road, Rapid City, SD 57702. Runners will take the sidewalk east from the start line to Mary Hall Park and then follow the bike path to the Fair Grounds dirt parking lot. They will turn around at the parking lot and return to 3740 Range Road.
A crossing guard with a reflective vest will be posted at every intersection. There are two water points: one in the parking lot at Omaha and N Mount Rushmore Road intersection and the other at the turnaround at the Fair Grounds. The 1.09-miler will utilize the same start and finish line. The turnaround point will be in Mary Hall Park.
The route will be marked with chalk paint every ½ miles. One person will be present at each water point with cups and trash bags. Parking will be at the National Guard Armory at 3740 Range Road.
